Students need to remain strict to basic goals and principles if they are going to find success and achieve in there required fields. Often students need advice from parents and other experienced scholars as the right advice is not basic common sense.

Here are 5 tips students should follow for success:

1. Surround your self with hard working and positive students. Eventually they will begin to influence you and lead you to becoming a harder worker your self. I had this happen to me in high school when one of my best friends had several good study patterns and eventually i was using them which also led to my success.

2. Always follow the school or college guidelines. This is obvious but it should be stated.

3. Start assignments early, usually the night you get them. Work on them each night for thirty minutes. This achieves better results than leaving them to the last minute.

4. Write out practice responses to long answer questions. Also focus on a specific structure.

5. Always listen in class. This is the most important rule, teacher to student learning is the most productive and efficient.

Students need to be informed of these tips from there parents, guardians, teachers and other elders who offer advice. Through out my years in high school and then college i saw to many kids with a lot of scholastic potential turn out bad. Often they would not make it in to college and would be forced to do some thing they would not want to do, just to make enough money to live off. The key for students to succeed remains hard work and dedication.

By: Steven Francesco Simpson

Homeschooling is a very rewarding experience for both child and parent. Not only does it allow the parents to have full control over what their child learns it also can bring the family closer together. But before you decide to jump head first into teaching your kids at home you need to be aware that you should first develop a home school program that will help your children learn to the best of their abilities. And also keep in mind that planning a good home school program requires much more then just deciding what time of day to teach certain subjects or how long the school day will be.

Tips for Planning Home School Lessons

The best approach to planning your home school curriculum is to first determine what your children are having trouble with and where improvements need to be made. This information can be found on your child’s report card or by talking with their former public school teachers. Once you know what areas your child is lacking in you can build your lesson plan around those subjects. There are many great online sources and stores that can provide you with adequate materials for your lesson plans. Of course you should still cover the subjects they excel at but do not devote as much time to them as you would the ones they find more difficult.

One thing that you will find out as a parent teacher is that your plans may change as the school year goes by. You may find that subjects that were once difficult for your kids are now easy and that they now need help in other areas. That is great thing about homeschooling, you can change the study plans to fit your child. And if you have more then one child you can vary the lesson plans for each of them to ensure they are learning at the best level possible.

Aside from just emphasizing the areas that need improvement you should also present material that your kids find interesting and enjoyable. Being taught material they find easy and enjoyable to learn will help reduce the feelings of anxiety and boredom they may feel when working with difficult material.

As a home school teacher and parent your job will to always evaluate and modify your children’s learning experience. By being a responsible parent and taking full advantage of the flexibly the home school offers you are giving your kids a great head start in life.

By: Darin Sewell

Many parents who are homeschooling their kids are pleasantly surprised that they do not need much money in order to be effective and successful homeschoolers. One of the first thing families considering to homeschool their kids is that they have to calculate the cost since there are several recurring family expenditures that require attention. There are not only financial costs, but physical and emotional factors to consider as well.

Teaching and learning materials have to be bought. Most likely your local school will lend you textbooks; if not, your local library is a great place to start. You can borrow books, have it copied and bring it home.

Homeschooling can cost as much or as less as you want to. However there are some guidelines to help you on what to spend on your homeschooling budget:

1. Research and shop around. Spend time to research available teaching and learning materials before purchasing. Explore your local stores, web sites, and your local library for resource supplies and books.

2. Narrow down the field. List everything that you need down and focus on the really important ones. Books that you need to buy, others you can borrow from the library.

3. Set a budget. How much will you be able to afford? Buying materials on a monthly basis and only when the need arises may be the best option for you, than buying everything in bulk, to find out that you don’t really need some of them.

4. Stick to your list. Never purchase any homeschool material that you have not listed, you don’t need them, so don’t get carried away.

To lower your expenses of homeschooling your kids, here are some tips you can use:

1. Check if the homeschooling program you intend to use is flexible

In order to lower or lessen your expenses in case you want to homeschool your child, it is best that you verify if it’s program is flexible. This means that it will allow you to make some changes in case you find some items that may not work for your children.

2. Do the sums

Compute and compare prices of books and other materials needed in teaching your children. Indeed, getting the best materials for your children to ensure that your children can match the level of education that typical students acquire in school can be a good point. However, it does not mean that you have to go all the way in piling up your expenses just because you want the best for your child.

3. Focus on your children’s important needs first and foremost

There are many things to consider, but to lower your expenses, it is best to focus more on your children’s needs. The accessories may be bought later.

Indeed, homeschool is a really great alternative to pubic schools but it does not mean it is free. Explore with the idea and shop around the materials. You can find ways to lower your expenses in order to have less financial problems with homeschooling.

By: Joshua Poyoh

If you have recently made the choice to educate your children at home you are in for a exciting journey. Not only will a home school setting be full of excitement and joy it will also be a place of frustration and difficulties. But by planning ahead you can limit the amount of set backs you have. In the next few paragraphs this article will touch on the basics of preparing for homeschooling your kids.

Proper Planning Is Critical

Before you begin to home school your child you will want to make sure you are following all your states laws and requirements. Certain states require that parents of home schooled children file a affidavit with the department of education in their state. You may also be required to maintain records of your child’s grades and educational abilities . Failure to comply with any state law could wind up costing you money and frustration so always know the legal requirements before you begin in home teaching of your kids.

The next step is deciding what you want your children to extract from their home education. Are you wanting to focus on religious education, do you have a gifted student that needs more challenges? These are all things to consider when developing a teaching plan for your children. And knowing the desired educational goals ahead of time will make lesson planning much easier!

Once you know that you have met all the legal requirements and you know what you want your child to receive from their education you will need to set a curriculum to follow. Do not think for an instant that you can just wing it and make up things to teach everyday. A curriculum will help guide you and your children to an end goal of acquiring new academic skills. If you are having difficulties planning the curriculum there are services that can help you plan an age and ability appropriate home school curriculum.

Although homeschooling is very rewarding and a great way to ensure your children are educated correctly it does require proper planning. So take the time to set curriculums, check state laws and prepare yourself mentally for the task at hand!

By: Darin Sewell

Homeschooling your kid is not an easy task and here is a list of some good homeschooling tips for you and your kids to consider.

- Avoid making the curriculum a dictator. It is not necessary that your child should do every exercises that are mentioned in the program book. Home school parent should focus on the learning process, since he learns via the fun he has.

- Make the more formal type of lessons like spelling and math, short. And always teach them using examples.

- Most children do not like writing, and therefore may need some help and care where writing is concerned. Many parents will realize that children can think much more and be more creative if someone is there to help them write out their thoughts.

- It is important for parents to let the child develop at his own speed. Do not burden the kid with too much, and too soon.

- Switch off the TV, radio or computer during lessons. This will give your child focus and the opportunity to learn and explore more. They also need to respect that there is time for fun and there is time for learning.

- Take the child to the local library to expose them to a community learning experience. You can also build a small library of your own, with colorful books on math, spelling and interesting stories to create a conducive learning environment.

- Develop a structure and methodical process to teach your child. Start with easy things and then go on to explain the difficult concepts thereafter. If you start the spelling session with Arsonist instead of Apple, your child will definitely not be able to understand.

- Remember always that all work and no play will make your child dull. Allow him to indulge in activity that he loves. Find out what interests your child the most, it could be reading a story, computer games or playing with building blocks or modeling clay.

- There are different ways a child can learn. For example, simply by touching things, the meaning of Kinesthetic could be highlighted and make obvious. Listening could help learn the meaning of Auditory, while watching a cartoon or reading out aloud could highlight the meaning of Visual. These three, Kinesthetic, Auditory and Visual are aids in the whole learning process. Children can adopt any of the styles or they can use a combination of all three – no standard formula, unless of course if they are physically disabled. As a parent, you can increase the speed of learning as well as memory by adapting the lessons and curriculum to the child’s learning style and progress.

- Different educational material appeals to different type of learners. Workbooks, flashcards, matching games, instruction charts and books appeal to the more visual learners. Songs and rhymes and instruments please auditory learners and model kits, puzzles, typing and gardening etc are preferred mode of learning for the kinesthetic learners – understand your child preference.

By: Tony Pang

All throughout the day, a teacher makes an infinite number of decisions. How often do these decisions reflect the interpersonal side of a teacher or in short, your teacher’s personality?

Whether you are a new or seasoned teacher, teaching calls for different roles: educator, organizer, speaker, instructor. In a daily routine of teaching, a teacher exercises much more than just imparting information to kids. As such, a teacher’s interpersonal skills are just as important to the classroom. In fact, a teacher’s personality is what the kids will remember and take with them when they finish studying with you. In this article, you will get some tips on how to hone your positive attributes as a teacher that you may have not been aware of until reading this article.

Patience, patience, patience

How patient are you? With thirty five or more students in a classroom, being patient is a hard thing to come by. In which scenarios have you exercised the most patience? Where could you have exercised more? Some difficult classes will always challenge your patience but the more in tuned you are with your inner self, the easier it will be to deal with those negative students and even negative teachers, administrators, and parents all throughout your day.

Take a deep breath before entering the classroom and take it one step at a time.

You’re not Listening!

Some teachers never seem to hear what students are saying when it comes to their grades for example. Overworked teachers also are too busy with their hectic schedules to always lend an ear to their fellow colleagues at times. But don’t feel disheartened. Being a better listener will help you through the day and perhaps become a bit more understanding and aware.

With teacher dominated talk, it’s easy to spring forth and voice your opinion or talk throughout the lesson. Sometimes stopping the lesson is just as effective. Ty to hear the other side and what is being said at the given moment. Building a more effective dialogue with students allows a teacher to get some distance from the situation at hand and the students’ emotions. Being a good listener also affects good staff dynamics and it is now an important quality in demand in many work situations, not only exclusive to teachers.

Other Interpersonal and intrapersonal skills

communicating sympathy and empathy (showing care and concern when needed) showing appreciation giving positive reinforcement giving support and advice to new teachers

So, are you willing to learn what it takes to make a teacher good. What are you waiting for? Try it!

By: Dorit Sasson

This article is designed to provide you with some useful tips for keeping your homework, projects, reports and everything school-related organized and easy to find. Specifics may vary from person to person; however, the following information includes helpful and important guidelines from which everyone can benefit.

Organizing Schoolwork: Lesson Plans

School days, school days… they always seem to be upon us. We have some tips for organizing schoolwork so that you can ensure that your child’s organizing skills make the grade.

One thing you can always be certain about when your children begin a new school year… the paperwork will continue build and build. To avoid the distressing notion of losing an important homework assignment, or misplacing vital notes needed for an upcoming test, or losing track of just about any other kind of school-related document, we offer the following tips for organizing schoolwork:

Organizing Schoolwork: Devote separate folders to individual subjects.

Sometimes, students (and their parents) may think it’s best to stuff several subject assignments for example math and science into the same 2-pocket folder. Invariably, the papers will get mixed up, causing confusion. Instead, designate one folder for math and another for science…and title them clearly on the front. It might even be a good idea to have a different colored folder for each subject so that they can be easily identified.

Organizing Schoolwork: Divide ring binders by subject.

Much the same as pocket folders, ring binders can become confusing if they’re not organized the right way. Rather than just placing papers into the binder in any old order, insert a subject tab divider (or tabbed index) to divide the binder into sections that can be referenced quickly just by flipping to the respective tab. It’s a good idea to either alphabetize the subjects or put them in order by hour or day. Also, add clear 3-hole-punched sheet protectors to your students’ ring binders, helping to protect important assignments while also better organizing them.

Organizing Schoolwork: Keep working papers apart from archive papers.

Every student has longer-term projects, such as term papers, that are typically completed over several weeks or months. And of course, students also have homework on an ongoing basis. For enhanced organizing efficiency, do not mix these working project papers with documents that have already been completed…such as older homework assignments that have been graded and returned by the teacher. Older papers can be placed into their own archive folder for safekeeping.

Organizing Schoolwork: Stay away from the urge to overstuff folders.

As the school year progresses, most students will cram as much paper as is humanly possible into each folder until the folder is literally overflowing. The result is usually a mess, where specific papers are difficult to find. If a pocket folder begins to get crammed, start a new one. Another hint: pocket folders come in several colors, so let’s say you’re starting a new folder for history assignments and the existing history folder is blue. Also make the new folder blue, creating a family look for the students history assignments.

By: Jennifer Bunker

There is a certain age that your child gets into where they are too small to go to regular school but yet they are old enough to do their own thing and accomplish certain tasks. This is the toughest time for the parent since the exuberant energy at times drains the entire energy of the caretaker. The need that they have to expend the energy that they have makes them want to run around, scream, play, fiddle with things and sometimes get aggressive and out of control.

Even though you should enjoy these days with your child, you should realize that this is the time when you should try and give them a head start in life. Early childhood learning programs do just that. These programs give you a head start by acclimatizing to the environment that they will enter once they start kindergarten. Instead of being exposed to only their parents, kids who go to early leaning programs tend to interact in a better manner with other kids. They are prepared for what they can expect when they start going to a proper school since they have seen environments where there are many kids around. They also learn to listen to instructions being given and get used to a set pattern of curriculum and learning.

The other option to give your child a head start is using the World Wide Web. The internet has options that your child can use to play games and learn at the same time. This is essentially a very important tool since the child does not realize that he is studying and therefore learns while playing. Once these learning games and tools become a part of the life of your child, you will realize that he continues to use them at a later stage. There are options that are available for each age to hone skills that are apt for their age. This fun filled activity also makes the parents feel happy that their child is learning while having fun.

So before you start thinking about keeping your child to yourself for your own selfish needs, think of your child and give him a head start in life by giving them access to more knowledge and information than anyone else!

By: Scotie Keithlow

Looking for infant education advice? Wondering why are some children are easier to discipline? It took educators more than 20 years of parent and baby watching to get the answer. Their conclusion is the deeper the parent-child connection, the easier discipline will be. And this connection starts to form at infant stage, and it depends on your infant education style. If you just had a baby, now it’s you time to start to build a solid connection with your baby. To help you appreciate the relationship between connection to your child and disciplining your child, In this page I will share with you some infant education tips:

1)Respond to your baby’s cries

Before your actually hold your baby in your arms you will wonder,”how will I always know what my baby needs?” You will learn quickly because your baby will let you know. The key is to listen and observe. Babies are born with their earlier and strongest language which is Cry. A baby’s cry is designed to ensure that his needs for food, holding, rest and social interaction are met. Your baby’s cry also builds up his parents’ parenting skills. Responding to your baby’s cries is your first practice in discipling your baby. Therefore, when your baby cries, pick him up and comfort him. Don’t waste your time wondering, ” Will spoil her?”, Just do it.

2) Breastfeed your baby

There is a special link between breastfeeding and discipline. Promoting desirable behavior requires that you know your child and help your child feel right. Breastfeeding helps you get to know your baby and provide the response that helps him feel right.

3) Wear your baby

Beginning in the early weeks, hold or wear your baby in a baby sling for as many hours a day as you and your baby enjoy. babywearing improves the way babies feel. The carried baby feels like a part of the parent’s world. babywearing helps the baby feel included and important, which creates a feeling of rightness that translates into better behavior and more opportunities for learning. The brain is stimulated through motion, increasing the baby’s intellectual capacity, a forerunner to the child’s ability to make appropriate sensory-motor adaptation in the future.

4)Play with your baby

What does playing have to do with discipline? you may wonder, play helps you know your baby’s capabilities and age-appropriate behaviors at each stage of development. It sets the stage for you and your baby or enjoy one another. It opens the door to a valuable discipline tool you will need at all stages of your child’s life—humor. To smile, laugh, and giggle your way through a situation sidesteps a conflict, gets the child’s attention, opening his mind to your discipline. Playing together gives your baby the message ” you are important to me.” a valuable feeling for growing self-esteem.

5)Share sleep with your baby

Every family needs to work out a sleeping arrangement where all sleep best, and many educators believe nightmare environment that can best strengthen your parent-child attachment allows for baby sleeping near you. and also share sleep with your baby, baby’s overall physiological system works better when baby sleeps next to the mother. The cardiorespiratory system is more regulated, less stressed, less anxiety.

6) Become a Facilitator

At each stage of development, a child needs significant people who care about him and whom he cares about. These people act as facilitators, helping the child learn how to conduct himself in the world. The facilitator anticipates what the child needs at each stage of development in order to thrive. Thinking of yourself as a facilitator keeps you from hovering over and smothering your child with overprotection. Being on standby as needed helps you and your child negotiate an appropriate level of independent.

A healthy attachment in infancy is likely to turn out a healthier adult. How a mother and infant spend the first year together makes a difference, probably for the rest of their lives.

By: Ginger Yao
